Born in Poitiers, Jean-Christophe Born grew up in Gabon before moving to the United States where he started to study music and musical comedy. He returned to France and graduated from the Marseille conservatoire and won first prizes in the Ravel-Granados and Léopold Bellan foundation competitions.
He studied with fine artists including Montserrat Caballé, Elisabeth Cooper, François Le Roux and with Susan McCulloch at the Guildhall in London. He joined touring productions including Rossini's Il viaggio a Reims and Peter Brook's Enchanted Flute in which he played Monostatos.
Jean-Christophe Born appears in concerts and sings in oratories such as Haydn's Creation, Dvorak's Stabat Mater and in Beethoven's Ninth Symphony.
He has sung at Nice Opera and joined the Strasbourg Opera Studio for one season. He sang the title role in Nino Rota's Aladin, the singer in Callari/Melozzi's Pinocchio and Horace in Gounod's La Colombe. He has appeared in touring productions in France including playing the role of Marius in Les Miserables.
His recordings include Alexis Piron's Vasta, Reine de Bordelie with Iakovos Pappas and Almazis.
Since 2017 he has lived in Marseille developing his own projects and productions with a focus on the city, including one based on the life of early 20th century singer and actress Gaby Deslys and currently on the myth of the founding of Marseille.
